How it Works

The All-On-4 procedure removes remaining teeth, places 4-6 implants per arch, and attaches a low-profile bridge to the implants. The implants are often positioned at specialized angles to avoid the sinuses, which eliminates the need for expensive bone grafts and lengthy healing times.

Traditionally, the All-On-4 uses 4 implants with acrylic denture teeth on a titanium frame. However, at Texas Dental Implant Center, we have enhanced this procedure to provide superior results based on our experience in successfully placing numerous dental implants. We carefully evaluate each patient’s unique anatomy to determine the optimal treatment. Depending on your needs, your doctor will place 4 to 6 implants per arch, and secure temporary fixed bridges while your implants integrate with the jawbone and your mouth heals.

Once healing is complete, the final All-On-4 teeth are crafted from zirconia, a premium material much stronger and more durable than traditional acrylic denture teeth. Zirconia provides a more natural, lifelike appearance, with better hygiene and stain resistance. This ensures your teeth last longer and look better compared to the acrylic/titanium hybrid bridges offered by many other All-On-4 specialists.

Am I a Candidate?

Most patients are suitable candidates for the All-On-4 procedure, including those who have been informed they lack sufficient bone for dental implants. Your doctor will employ a combination of straight and angled implants to navigate around the sinuses and engage the strongest areas of your jawbone. This approach typically eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming sinus augmentation bone grafts.

During your consultation, your doctor will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to determine if the All-On-4 “Teeth in a Day” option is right for you.

Zirconia vs. Traditional Denture Materials

Zirconia is considered the “gold standard” material for the All-On-4 procedure due to its exceptional durability and resistance to wear and corrosion. This ceramic material is an excellent choice for All-On-4 dental restorations.

One of the primary benefits of zirconia in All-On-4 implants is its strength and stability. Zirconia bridges can endure high chewing forces without cracking or chipping, ensuring that your new teeth perform flawlessly for years. Additionally, zirconia is biocompatible, meaning it is unlikely to trigger allergic or inflammatory reactions, making it a great option for patients with sensitive or allergy-prone skin.

Another significant advantage of zirconia dental implants is their stunning, natural appearance. Unlike metal or acrylic, zirconia has a translucent quality that closely resembles natural teeth, providing a realistic and aesthetically pleasing smile.

Zirconia is also easy to clean and maintain; it can be polished to retain its shine and prevent discoloration over time, contributing to the longevity of your All-On-4 teeth.

Overall, zirconia is an outstanding choice for All-On-4 dental implants, offering numerous benefits that make it an appealing option for patients seeking a beautiful, long-lasting, and low-maintenance smile.

What Are All-On-4 Dental Implants

All-On-4 Dental Implants Procedure Timeline

The procedure typically takes 4-6 hours, depending on whether you're having a single arch (upper or lower) or both arches (full mouth) treated. When you leave our office, your temporary All-On-4 bridge(s) will be securely attached to the new implants.

You’ll wear the temporary bridge(s) for about 4 months to allow the implants to fully integrate with your bone and for your jaw and gums to heal into a stable, long-term position. This healing time ensures the best possible fit for your final bridges.

Once healing is complete, we’ll begin fabricating your permanent All-On-4 bridge(s). This process takes a few appointments over 5-6 weeks, during which you'll have input in designing your perfect smile.

Procedure Timeline

CONSULT

This is the first step in the full arch process. During this appointment, you will meet with your Dr. Kurt O. Bally DMD FICOI to discuss your needs and options for dental implants. The consultation will typically take about an hour. This first and free visit is $525 value.
STEP 1
STEP 2

RECORDS

Your dentist will take a series of records, including dental x-rays, 3D scans, and photographs. These records will be used to create a treatment plan and to fabricate your dental implants.

PRE-SURGICAL CONSULT

This appointment is held before the surgery to discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure, as well as the recovery process. You will also have a chance to ask any questions you may have.
STEP 3
STEP 4

SURGERY

This is the procedure where the implants are placed into your jawbone. The surgery typically takes about 2 hours per jaw and is done safely with oral anesthesia. All patients leave with their new temporary teeth on the day of the surgery and will return within 1-2 weeks to have their first post-op visit and receive their fist implant prototype teeth. It is important to remain on a very soft diet after surgery and before receiving your first prototype.

PROTOTYPES

1-2 weeks after your surgery you will return to check your healing and receive your first set of implant prototype teeth that will be attached directly to your implants. We allow up to 3 versions of teeth during the healing process to ensure the dentist and patient is happy with the look and feel. As your implants heal your dentist will create a series of prototypes for your implant bridge. These prototypes will be used to test the fit and function of the bridge before it is permanently placed.
STEP 5
STEP 6

HEALING

The implants will need to heal for 4-6 months before the next step can be taken. Dr. Bally will also provide a night guard to help prevent excess pressure from going to your implants. As you heal you will remain on a soft diet.

PROTOTYPING AND VERIFICATION

Once the implants have healed, your dentist will create a final prototype of your dental bridge. This prototype will be verified to ensure that it is the correct size, shape, and color. Before authorizing the fabrication of your new zirconia implant smile.
STEP 7
STEP 8

DELIVERY

This is the appointment where your permanent dental bridge is placed. The procedure typically takes about 1 hour. It's a truly rewarding visit for everyone.

POST-DELIVERY CONSULT AND DOCUMENTATION

This appointment is held after your new zirconia implant smile is installed and your final night guard is given and instructions to maintain your smile are discussed. Final pictures, X-rays and video mark the end of your zirconia implant smile journey.
STEP 9
STEP 10

MAINTENANCE

Your zirconia implant smile will need to be maintained on a regular basis to ensure that it continues to function properly. This may include cleaning, adjustments, and checkups.

Mouth Impressions

In our lab, we create temporary implant bridges using various techniques. If you’re missing most or all of the teeth in the arch being treated, our doctor may recommend a wax try-in. This mockup of your temporary implant bridge allows us to assess bite position, aesthetics, and other important factors.

Procedure

Remove teeth (if necessary), place the implants, and fit the temporary implant bridge(s). This procedure usually takes about 4-6 hours.

Post Op #1

Day after the procedure: We’ll check on your healing and address any questions you may have.

Post Op #2

Three weeks after the procedure: We will remove sutures and assess your healing. You will typically be cleared to use a water flosser or WaterPik at this appointment.

Impressions for Final Teeth

Four months after the procedure: We will take impressions for your final All-On-4 zirconia bridges.

Try-In

Five to ten days after impressions: We will conduct a “try-in” of a mock-up for your final All-On-4 teeth. In some cases, multiple wax try-ins may be necessary. It’s important to ensure you’re completely satisfied with these mock-ups before we proceed, as changes cannot be made once they’re processed. If you wish to make changes after approving your final bridge(s), a full-cost remake charge will apply.

Seat Final Teeth

Four to six weeks after the try-ins: Your final All-On-4 teeth will be ready to be seated.
